Day 5: Relaxing songs
Another particular weakness of mine is orchestral soundtracks. Sim City 4 is probably the best in the series and the soundtrack is something else. Forceful at times, playful, calming, industrial, it boasts a soundtrack that wears many hats. This particular piece reminds me of the opening theme to Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex, but more peaceful. I find myself putting this on loop whenever I write my adventures, it gets me in a mindset to get into the world I’m writing. Not bad for a game that wants to pull you into the city you’re building.

No commentary this time. Only Hollow Knight and chill.

Day 5: Overworld theme - Pokke Village - Monster Hunter: Generations Ultimate
Playing catch up, but my favorite monster hunter village track of all the games (spoiler, this list has my favorite fight music from the franchies as well). Its quiet, calming, and gives me traverse town vibes from Kingdom Hearts. What more to love?

Day 6: Relaxing Music - Old Avant Gardens Theme -Lego Universe
To this day, I think I will never have as many hours in a game as I have for LU. I made a bit of a reputation for myself and made myself semi-famous on the game and in forums surrounding the game. I miss hanging out at the end of the first major world where this track plays chatting with online friends of which many have gone on to lead their own lives in a brief blip of 2 years. Can't wait for Darkflame Universe to come back so I can once again run around in these worlds.

Day 7 - Music from an Indie Game - Spiritfarer
After seeing Hairtoday post my submission for today in the relaxing choice (CITY OF TEARS IS A MASTERPIECE) I went to go look for a different indie that made me emotional. I love this track so much as it reminds me exactly what an oncoming storm feels like at sea, and the first few notes and stings feel just like that hot air being blown away by a cold front, then slowly fading out towards the end as the storm passes overhead. Play spiritfarer, you won't regret it.

Day 7: Indie Game Music
Man, I was really thinking of putting something from Wandersong here. When I revisited the OST for that...I realized that, for a game about a bard, there are no real bangers. Don't get me wrong, it's still worth a play, but the music complements an excellent game but doesn't really stand on its own.
Later Alligator, on the other hand, is one of those games that sticks out a bit more. Smallbu animation is amazing, the music is jazzy and upbeat, and the humor is fantastic. The opening theme does a great job of catching your ear and your attention. Eversor just purchased the OST on vinyl, and I could see that record getting some play.

Day 7 Got some obscure sauce from an indie game from 2015. Perhaps you've heard of it? If not you should go and play it.

INFRA is a janky Source Engine game with an interesting premise: you're a technician sent out to survey infrastructure. The local city is built atop a nest of pipes, wires, and tunnels in need of repair; so you head out with a flashlight and a camera to document the sites that need work. That might be exposed rebar or a patch of damaged concrete- the sorts of background detail that videogames have trained our eyes to gloss over as set-dressing- or it might be a critical support rusted through and threatening to bring down the ceiling. The primary threat in the game is the same urban decay you've been sent out to explore, and this song starts to play when a room tries to kill you.
INFRA tells an interesting story with its environments. The game world feels like it's crumbling from neglect. It's one of the most interesting games I've played in a while.

Day 8 is a shooter either first person or third. This is a game where both first and third person are an option and one of the main things you do is shoot. Don't mind that it's a dog fighter sim.
