Day 17- Music You Never Get Tired Of: Sonic Adventure 2 Battle- Live and Learn
I keep coming back to SA2B's soundtrack. It's not the sort of thing you can put on repeat and jam to, but it's stupid and fun and I keep putting it on my playlists. City Escape already got posted- good, because it's awesome- so Live and Learn is my go-to for this game. The version with lyrics plays over the game's big dumb climax, and it's easy to imagine the big dumb action running on screen while the song plays.

Day 17: Music You Never Get Tired of
It's a two for one, mainly because this remix slaps.
Cave Story holds a special place in my heart. This was my first indie game, before I was turned on to Cave Story the most I had ever seen of indie gaming were forgotten shareware games featured on shareware collections. Most were either neat puzzle games (Soleil Games where are thou?) or odd British point and click adventures like Hugo's House of Horrors (My first exposure to a Dr. Who reference)
Cave Story came to my attention in college when I was just getting into 4chan. Everyone was raving about this free game made by a Japanese Hikikomori. I downloaded it, translated it, and gave it a whirl. The music is amazing, the gameplay solid, and the difficulty curve gentle (Up until the Hell Run...I actually have never made it to the True Ending)
Moonsong comes at a low point. Your hero has failed, innocents have died and now you are looking just to escape or end a madman's rampage. You are given the choice to flee or to climb up the side of a floating island. If you choose to fight onwards you are given this sad tune as you scrape up the island to an unknown fate. The game has seen remakes and remasters over the years, and no matter how you get your hands on it, it's worth a play.

Day 18- Music From The Year You Were Born: Zelda 2- Temple Theme(1987)
I know this song primarily from Smash Bros Melee- I never got that far in the original game- but it's a hell of a track in any form. When I checked the song out for today I was surprised to see it held up as well as it did.

Day 18:
Huh, today I learned that I'm as old as the Castlevania series.
I'll be honest, there are stronger soundtracks than the original Castlevania, but Vampire Killer is a classic. It's nice that the series finds ways to remix and rehash these classic tracks. While I will admit the Mega Man series has stronger music as a whole, it is rare to see them do any musical throwbacks. Vampire Killer and Bloody Tears make for great moments of punctuation. I would be great to see the MM2 Wily 1 theme come up again or maybe see a throwback to Boomer Kuanger's theme in a future X game.

Day 19: Cover of Music by another artist
The London Philharmonic did two concerts that you can listen to on Youtube. They're worth a listen and you don't have to put up with Tommy Tallarico's bullshit. This piece is a medley of Super Metroid's music and it does a great job of balancing the action, force, and terror that the series can convey when it's firing on all cylinders. Though as great as the track is, what make's it is the triumphant crescendo near the end. Goddamn it is just insanely powerful. As a band geek, this is the sort of moment I live for. When the conductor get's everything up there and you get ready to hit a note so hard that you spot wield your mouthpiece to your trombone slide.

Day 17: Music you never get tired of - Skyrim - Far Horizons
I've played entire 4 hour DND sessions to this track, and prefer over anything else in Skyrim's OST. I've used it for study music, I've looped it for mindless tasks, It's just such a good track and gives the norse feel that the Nords and Skyrim are so well known for. Just all around one of my favorite tracks in a video game.

Day 18 - Music from a game the same year you were born in - Age of Empires 1 - Dawn of a New Age
AND I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO PICK FF7 FOR THIS. I saw this game and remembered how it alongside Civilization 3 cultivated a lifetime love of history. This track plays normally right after you age up from Age 1 to Age 2, when you finally start to see your Civilization begin to flourish. I've always found myself remembering this track fondly and for good reason, just When the drums really start to hit around 40 seconds in it begins to just come to life.

Day 19: Cover of Video Game Music - Undertale - Hopes and Dreams Orchestral
And here's my Undertale chip cashed in, and what better day to do it. Undertale is a game that is best defined by its fandom and fan creations for better and for worse, and while I never was the biggest fan of the game (I got overhyped by friends and when I played it I had a lukewarm "meh"), though I completely understand why its so big for so many people. I used this track briefly in a DND campaign coming to a close and since then it became my favorite remix from really any video game. I have another track remix that I love just as much, but I'm saving that game for a different day.

Day 19- Cover of Music By A Different Artist: Devil May Cry V- Bury The Light covered by LittleVMills
Youtube's got some gold among its artists. I've killed a few afternoons playing remixes of video game music and anime intros on repeat. I've even forced myself back on Itunes to buy some songs that stick out. LittleVMills is a bit hit-or-miss with the metal-screaming-voice, but when he hits he HITS.
As for the song itself, schlocky, overblown edge like this is right up my alley. It's the perfect character song for a someone as self-absorbed and power-obsessed as Vergil, doubling down with each new verse. It has the same kind of goofy energy as Shadow the Hedgehog- fun because it's taking itself way too seriously.

Day 20 - Racing Game - Mario Kart Wii - Maple Treeway
Mario Kart Wii, one of the first games I ever owned myself. While it isn't my favorite track, Maple Treeway is a great musical piece and is a soft change of pace over the more jaunty tunes in the game.
