Day 13, music from a game you don't like Little Dragon Cafe
I'm so so so sorry if anyone likes this game genuinely. Perhaps my little tirade I'm about to go on is more exaggerated since the years have gone by since I've played this game, but my feelings still remain, and I assume they remain for a reason. This game, I tried so so SO SO HARD to like it. I loved the OG harvest moon games before the publishing kerfuffle, I loved what they could do with the pixel games!! But, sadly, their magic failed to be transferred into this 3d game. This game is repetitive (cooking "mini-game", adventuring to the same gathering spots everyday, having to spend 5-7 minutes making your way back to the cafe to get your co-workers to stop slacking off, dodging for a long time to try and get your dragon to attack enemies), which is usually ok, when,,, you feel like you're progressing. There are many a flaws in this game but you can still love a game with many a flaws (look at sonic adventure 2, glitchy but beloved by many), and I put in over 10 hours into the game with pure spite to see if I can finish the monstrosity (I did not), then I simply quit the game. I've had friends approach me about "wow! this must really be a good game for you to always be playing it! Would you recommend me buying it-" to quickly respond "No! do not buy this game!!". I now rate "bad *" games on how much more I like them in comparison to Little Dragon Cafe. *bad being subjective to my own tastes, and how well I think the game handles.

Day 13 - Music you like from a game you don't - Shin Megami Tensei: Persona PSP
Oh boy, I know I'm getting flak for this pick. However, I love School Days as a track and its my favorite on this OST. However HOWEVER, God is this game outdated. I started the series with P5 and worked backward through emulators (or steam now with P4), and the only one I could not complete was P1. This isn't to say I didn't like the story but the combat was completely outdated and actually kind of boring compared to the challenge of the P2 companion games Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment. I watched a silent playthrough of the game to get the story understanding, but at the end of the day, bomb ass soundtrack, kinda boring and outdated game, in my opinion.

Day 13: Music from a game you didn't like
Y'know I was about to rant about Unlimited Saga, and how janky the Saga series is as a whole.
However, at the very least, Unlimited Saga has the common courtesy of throwing its litany of random mechanics and poor life choices at you right from the get go.
Octopath Traveler though...it's a different sadder story.
All the elements are there: Amazing soundtrack, snappy combat, interesting characters, great visuals.
However as you play it more and more, the most I can say is that the soundtrack still slaps and the visuals are distinctive.
But that once snappy combat becomes a slog, the good storylines are eclipsed but the bad, and the eight characters you have interact about as much as the crew of the Normandy do while in an elevation. That would be all well and good, but at least Mass Effect gave you story beats for each character and allowed you to explore their interactions just a bit more. In Octopath, it's just so bare bones.
This is a game which has an amazing thesis, but the body of it's argument just loops over and over with the same trite tropes you've seen over and over.
I do have hope for the franchise moving forward, it was a great if overambitious attempt, but never before have I dropped off a game so hard. Ultimately if you want a more manageable experience, just grab Trials of Mana. The characters are just as flat, but at least the gameplay is lively and the story is over before it bores you to death.

Day 13
So usually I would be okay with you trying out the games I link. But this is an exception. Just don't. Just really don't. Let this game rot.

Day 14: Music with vocals
Metal Gear Revengeance sure was a thing wasn't it? The boss battles were the true spectacle. You'd get the basic form of the nu-metal track for the fight in question, but as you're going in for a killing blow the game would slow down and drop in the vocals as you reduced your enemy into scrape.
If you don't like Metal Gear, and Devil May Cry is more up your alley, this game is worth a try. The stealth mechanics are a suggestion at best and the final boss battle is hilarious. While the soundtrack isn't my all time favorite, it is a spectacle that I can't help but appreciate nonetheless.

Day 14 - Music featuring Vocals - Bioshock Infinite
After You've Gone is such an interesting piece to me. Infinite was one of my introductions into the foray of First Person Shooters (and what a game it was to be introduced with), and because of this, I always have a soft spot for it even though the story is weak and there were a lot of things cut that created missed opportunities. However, This track changes its meaning as you think about the story of the song, and by the time the game is done and Booker Dewitt's adventure is at an end. Coming back to the startup menu screen the song can't help but put you in a state of "ah, so thats why this song is so important to the story." Also old record cracking in an empty alley with the song playing on a hot summer day in Columbia is really cool.

Day 13- Music You Like From a Game You Don't Like: Metroid Other M- Sector One Theme I had a rough time with this, and I've got to just post something up to get it out of the way. I've got a few games I actually hate- Mass Effect 3, Other M, Pokemon Black/White, Octopath Traveler- but there's not much music I actually like from those games. Octopath is the exception, but I used it for this category the last time we did this challenge and I'm trying to mix it up. I could have picked a game I bounced off or have opinions about, but it didn't seem like a good fit. So instead I went through Other M's OST. It's more than a hundred songs and is almost entirely ambient tracks completely devoid of energy. This one is the standout for the callback to Metroid Fusion's Sector 1 theme. I wasn't expecting it, and it's the only thing I remember well enough to care. If you want to hear a better version of this song, here's Fusion's Sector 1 theme. Side note, the OST I listened to includes the audio of select cutscenes. Honorable mentions for this day include Ridley's Introduction and Adam Just Shot You In The Back With A Monster In The Room. Man, fuck this game.

Day 14- Music with Vocals: Bloodborne- Ludwig, the Holy Blade
Bloodborne's chanting is so cool. So are its boss monsters. When a boss monster rediscovers its humanity in a glowing sword and comes at you as the legendary hero he used to be AND the choir starts up? It's go time.
