[FEB CONTEST] 10 Days Remaining For Love: Spite Date!

Your name is JADE KELLY. You are a gay college student.

And you NEED to get a date in the next 10 days.

Long story short, someone you hate very dearly called you a "pathetic loner" and said there's no way you could possibly get a date before graduation day. Which is now a mere 10 days away. You are determined to prove them wrong out of pure spite.

...that and you kind of are a pathetic loner, but it's time for that to change. You're sick of being alone.



These are the three contenders. Acquaintances of yours. You barely know them but since you have no friends, they're all you've got.

Here's what you know from your previous (if somewhat brief) encounters with each of them:

SAPPHIRE
She's quiet and reclusive like you, so you might have a lot in common?

RUBY
You're intimidated by how cool she is. You're pretty sure she does a sport, but you're not sure which one?

AMBER
She looks like she could bench press your entire body, and you think she's a bio major?

What is your game plan?

And more importantly, how will you spend the day tomorrow?

Adventure start! Okay, so this adventure is going to have a unique and experimental format, so I'm gonna lay down a few ground rules.



Each update will be numbered, and will take this form:

FIRST, a brief synopsis of the day's events. What Jade did in the day, in general terms. Who she hung out with, what she learned, notable events, etc. (Which I will of course, base on your suggestions.)

SECOND, some highlight moments. (conversations, outings, special moments, etc.) Not every moment of the day will be shown in detail, only brief snippets. (The highlights will be the only parts with images. If I am struggling to get an update out, I will cut the highlights, though I may add them in retroactively.)

THIRD, a progress tracker, showing how close each girl is to wanting to date the main character (represented by 0-5 hearts), and a badge for each special moment you've had with them, which will go in the empty space beneath the heart tracker.



P.S. PLEASE take into consideration that each update will be a full day's activities, so try to give suggestions that involve activities, or a plan of some sort. And keep in mind that the suggestions you give will always be for what Jade should do on the NEXT DAY.

A good suggestion might be something like "Go ice skating with Ruby." or "Get Amber those flowers she said she liked and see where things go from there." or "Invite all three girls to board game night at your dorm."

A bad suggestion: "Talk to Sapphire" or "Kiss her" (Too unspecific for what to do in a day)

Go to the yearbook office and see if they were nominated for anything... Also insure we aren't left out, again.

After that, armed with topical conversation, try to bump into each and have a chat.

Back up plan: buy ice cream and eat whole container alone watching favorite TV show.

You need to play it cool...Sapphire sounds like you might find her at the school library. You need to return some books anyways. Go see if you can stumble into romance there?

Either way, you still have class, keep an eye out for any of the three, do anyone of them share a class with you? That'd be easy places to say hello.

Go to your gaming club, you should see your friends, ask them what they suggest you could do. Friends are helpful like that!

Lastly, check around your dorms....maybe there is a end of the school year party coming up, that'd be great!

If Sapphire is a recluse like you, you might run in the same circle of shut-ins. Try to ignore the social anxiety you might get by asking about her in public.

For that matter, take stock of yourself. What interests do you have, regardless of whether or not you might share it with any of the three. What do you bring to the table? Work up a list. Oooh, or a spreadsheet. Spreadsheets are fun.

Practice smooching your pillow, and then go get some coffee or something. And seconding what Eve said: maybe you share classes with one of them? You could ask one of them for help with homework!

DAY 1

EVENT LOG

To start off your day, you stumbled out of bed at 11:30 and ate an entire tub of coffee flavored ice cream. It's a good thing you already dropped the class you had in the morning way earlier into the semester.

You figured that you could go and see the yearbook committee to see if the girls have been nominated for any superlatives. Maybe that would tell you something about them. When you got there, however, you realized you don't actually know any of their last names, so you couldn't look it up. Luckily for you though, you spotted Ruby's portrait in their database. She was basically at the top of the list because she has so many accolades. RUBY SCARLET: Voted "most likely to change the world" "most likely to win an Olympic medal" "most likely to become famous" "most likely to succeed" "most athletic" ... The list goes on. Suffice to say you're even more intimidated of how cool she is now.

Later in the day, you spotted Amber in biology class. You wanted to strike up a conversation but couldn't work up the courage.

Just after your failed attempt to talk to Amber, you headed to the campus library to find Sapphire. That's where you've met her every time before. Sapphire was there helping the library staff install some hardware into the computers. Your conversation had a bit of an awkward start, but you seemed to have hit it off. You even got her number!

You went to the rest of your classes as usual and then came back to your dorm to sleep.


HIGHLIGHTS

BIO CLASS

*You take a deep breath.*

JADE's thoughts: (Come on, just go up and talk to her. You can do this! Just say something about bio class, or like ask her with help with this weeks homework... come on Jade, just say anything to her...)

JADE: "... I... er, hhh..."

*You sigh as Amber walks away without even noticing you.*

AT THE LIBRARY

JADE's thoughts: (Alright, this is NOT going to go like last time in Bio. I know I'm shy but I CANNOT let that asshole Flint be right about me being too shy to get a date. Power of spite, don't let me down!!! Besides Sapphire is pretty shy too, right? Yeah, I can do this!)

JADE: "So... Computers, huh?"

*A long pause*

JADE's thoughts: (Wow I'm stupid. Why did I say it that way...)

SAPPHIRE: "Oh, uhh, are you talking to me?"

JADE: "Yeah, I just... I don't know a thing about computers. Don't get me wrong, I think they're cool! But uh, what exactly are you doing?"

SAPPHIRE: "Re-seating the library computers' CPUs with newer thermal paste and installing new NIC cards. I co-sysadmin with a few other students here between classes."

JADE's thoughts: (Oh fuck she's smart.)

SAPPHIRE: "Hey wait, aren't you the girl who comes here to the library to sleep sometimes?"

JADE: "Uh, yeah..."

SAPPHIRE: "I um, I forgot your name, sorry. What was it again?"

JADE's thoughts: (Damn. One of the only three girls I've talked to in college and she doesn't even remember my name... I really have to stop being such a shut-in.)

JADE "It's Jade."

SAPPHIRE: "I'm Sapphire."

JADE: "Oh, I um... I did know that. We have met before."

SAPPHIRE: "Right, sorry. I'm not good with names. Or remembering people at all, really."

JADE: "It uh, it's okay."

JADE's thoughts: (Oh no, is she laughing at how forgettable I am?)

SAPPHIRE: "Hehe, it's kinda funny."

JADE: "What is?"

SAPPHIRE: "Out of all the places to nap in the middle of the day, I'd imagine there's somewhere more comfortable than the library computer desks."

JADE: "You'd think so, but I just keep falling asleep here! Dunno what it is."

SAPPHIRE: "Maybe because it's so quiet here?"

JADE: "Oh that's definitely at least part of it."

JADE: "Oh, um. So, I gotta get to my next class, but do you wanna, per the haps, exchange numbers or something?"

SAPPHIRE: "Ummm... Sure, I guess. I'll put you in my phone as 'Sleepy Girl'"

JADE: "Um, you might actually wanna put me in as Sleepy Jade, so you don't forget my name again."

SAPPHIRE: "Oh, heh. Yeah, good idea."

-Throughout the day, strike up a fun conversation with Sapphire. Nothing too intense, but hey, flirt a little.

-In Bio class, try to steel your courage....maybe partner up for a class project if you are lucky. (This'll be hard but thou must TRY!)

-After class, check around the track and field, maybe this is the place to meet up with Ruby, we should at least introduce ourselves. But this'll be hard to like....naturally say hello.

-Have a chance encounter with Ruby's Ex while you get a snacks at the school store. I am -Sure- they are fun to talk to.

DAY 2

EVENT LOG

First thing in the morning you started digging around your dorm room for something cooler to wear. You put on some sunglasses and a leather jacket, and headed out to the sports field, figuring you'd find Ruby there. You did meet her there, and surprisingly, she remembered your name despite her being objectively the coolest student here, and you being objectively the lamest. Ruby mentioned that she's going to an end of the school year party just before graduation (day 9), hosted by someone named "Boyd."

Later in the day you sent Sapphire some memes. She seemed receptive, but said she was busy today and couldn't hang out.

You didn't see Amber around today at all.


HIGHLIGHTS

AT THE FIELD

*You stand off to the side of the field, too nervous to approach Ruby and the small crowd of people gathered around her.*

*Ruby notices your jacket and sunglasses and approaches you.*

JADE's thoughts: (Oh god she's coming right this way.)

RUBY: "Hey Jade. You rockin' the leather and shades? Samezies."

JADE's thoughts: (Woah, she remembers me? I guess we did hang out a couple times in the beginning of the year before I realized how popular she was. Ok, just play it cool...)

JADE: "Hah, yeah... I mean, yours looks cooler, obvi. Slick as hell, really."

RUBY: "Thanks, J. Always cool to hear people compliment my work."

JADE: "Your work?"

RUBY: "Yeah. I make all my own clothes. This jacket's lab grown leather, and dyed it and sewed it myself. I use biodegradable renewable bioplastics in my molds for the shades."

JADE: "Oh wow. That's... Actually insanely cool... You're really cool..."

RUBY: "Heh. Yeah I get that a lot. Especially from the year book committee. I keep telling them to stop nominating me for stuff. I think the head of the committee is in love with me or something."

JADE's thoughts: (Oh shit, looks like I've got competition...)

RUBY: "Anyway, you going to Boyd's the end of the year party next week?"

JADE: "Oh, uh. I could be."

RUBY: "I'll be there, so of course it's gonna be huge."

JADE: "Sounds cool."

RUBY: "Aight, I gotta jet. Catch ya later, Jade."

JADE: "Bye."

You haven't earned any extra hearts today, but you did learn some things.

Hell, ask Amber and Sapphire if they want to form a study group for the finals? Even if its just studying different classes, its really helpful to have others around to focus!
