You know you should focus on getting food, but you feel bad about catching him off guard like that.
Maybe you can fix things by doing the one thing you're great at: being a huge dumbass.
"How did you even get all that? It's way more sparkly than other monies I've seen. You should let me have some of them."

=You are now Zekrom, Ruler of the Black City and inventor of many things. You are currently in your very empty kitchen with the absol who freed you from the black orb. You were just about to go shopping when you found out it's been over 1000 years since you were last free. You're trying to shove that information to the back of your mind for the time being. This is complicated by the absol saying he'll take care of shopping on his own. This is a terrible idea. You already know he's terrified of the city. He spent ten minutes questioning how the automatic doors knew when he walked by and how you were so sure they wouldn't clamp down on him if he tried to go through them.=

Oh no, he's being really cute... There's only one way to handle this situation.
Scoop! The! Absol!
You scoop him up and leave your temple, carrying him the whole way back into your city. It's only fair; he carried you around in an orb for who knows how long.
You try to ignore how many new things you see in the city and how different everything feels. You have a quest right now. You haven't eaten in a thousand years and Chris' eating habits have given you little faith in how well fed he is.
If you're remembering right, there's a large supermarket, a small corner market, and a bakery all nearby. Any of them will work for getting food, but you'd really rather not draw attention to yourself wherever you go. You're not sure what kind of reaction you'll get, turning up a thousand years after being sealed away, but you're positive whatever it is will take up more time than you'd like. What's the best plan for avoiding a fuss?

Inside of the supermarket, in the back near the freezers full of food that no one ever buys, is a hidden dumpster. Inside of this dumpster is a delicious burger. It even has the scent lines emanating from it, inviting you to definitely eat the whole thing.

It takes you a moment to realize he's talking about words. Oh no, he doesn't know how to read? That explains a lot of his general confusion yesterday.
You push that knowledge to the side so you can deal with it later.
Instead, you ask Chris what he'd do for food if you set him down now.
"My absol senses are telling me there's some really good burgers nearby."
"And they cost no money and we can eat them as soon as we get them without waiting any longer."
Nope, ok, you're back in charge of food. You're not watching him puke again, sorry.
But... Maybe you need a quicker solution than a grocery run, at least for the time being...

"-aaa??? Aaaa???"
