Magnolia "Maggie" Darwin: Maggie is a graduate student at Kingsport University who is trying her hardest to earn a doctorate in Polymer Engineering. After three failed defenses, she is at the mercy of Dr. Vargunza to succeed on her fourth and for the past year she has been his assistant/servant. Constantly harried by the heavy burden he places on her, she grades all of the tests and homework assigned out and runs all of his data analysis.
She is roughly 5' 11'' with light brown skin. Her family was from down south but moved north when she was around nine. She wears thing wire frame glasses and like to wear wool caps, weather permitting, otherwise she has dark brown curly hair down to he shoulders.
Wilhelmina "Billie" Taylor: Billie is Maggie without a filter. She is a law major who is studying to pass the bar and is wrapping up a doctorate in Criminal Justice. While she is looking to practice law, she very much wants to help the underdog. There is a bit of contempt with how the system works in her heart, but she's willing to play along with it to do as much good as she can.
She stands at about six feet even and has fair skin. Her hair is dyed blue and is in a pixie cut and she has sharp features. When getting ready to practice, she wears a well tailored suit, but from day to day she tends to wear band t-shirts and jeans.
Ezekiel "Zeke" Robinson: The Mad Scientist of the group. Zeke owns the house outright and has been a doctor of electrical engineering for the past two years. He is trying to add a polymer engineering doctorate to his ever growing list of accolades, but is divvying his time between tinkering, teaching, and learning.
He wears his hair in a tall mohawk which he flattens to one side when teaching. He typically keeps it as his natural black hair color, but tends to dye it for special occasions. He is about 5'10 with pale skin, and about 6' 3'' if you count the mohawk. He enjoys wearing a lab coat and slacks with sneakers and vintage graphic tees.
Barnabas "Barns" Demetriou: The star quarterback for the Kingsport University Fisher Cats. He is well known around the campus and to most seems like a total jock. He takes his studies quite seriously and is currently an engineering undergrad. While he takes his studies seriously, he tends to have trouble keeping up. He has noticeable mood swings and can disappear from classes for weeks at a time. While he tests well, his attendance causes trouble with his overall GPA.
Standing an impressive 6' 3'', his statuesque features are complimented by his dark hair and olive skin. He is strong, even for a quarterback and his known to be able to throw far enough to potentially set records. He might be a shoo in for the NFL if he can get his mental state sorted.
Krystal Toussaint: A newer face in the Chemical Engineering program. Krystal was shooting to break into law enforcement with a criminal justice degree, however after a rather nasty arrest after walking by a protest two years ago, her opinion of the police changed radically, much to her family's chagrin. She has a hearty laugh and a generous heart.
She is about as tall as Maggie, at around 5' 11'' and has dark skin and hair. She keeps her hair back in a ponytail and tends to dress well even when on casual days. She has let her physical training slide since changing majors, so she is a bit heavier set.
Sam Kerrick: A native of Kingsport and huge fan of Zeke's, Sam in a mad scientist in training. If they are not almost blowing up the campus labs they are hunting for the juiciest gossip in town. They love drama, but are more a fan of watching it unfold than being an active participant. Currently, they are taking accelerated courses and gaining graduate credits while working on the undergraduate degree.
Sam is about 6' and identifies as non-binary. They enjoy dressing in loud colors and changing up their look frequently. Maggie usually has trouble keeping up with their drastic changes between each lab, but luckily since they tend to hang out with Zeke a good deal, she has a chance to see what their fashion sense has evolved to between each lab.
Dr. Emil Vargunza: Every university has that one tenured professor who is kept on because of the esteem of their work. The professor who knows they are bulletproof and can teach their class as hard or easy as they like. Sometime these professors are the best friends you can have, other time they can make a student's life a living hell. Unfortunately Dr. Vargunza is the latter.
He has been a thorn in Maggie's side since she entered the doctorate program, tearing each of her dissertations to shreds and denying her a doctorate three times. Ever since the last rejection, he took her on as an assistant and while Maggie has made some significant advances in her work, they have come at the expense of her mental well being.
Dr. Vargunza is a diminutive goblin of a man, standing at about 5'2'' and bald as the day he was born. He has pale skin, coke bottle glasses, and a voice that sounds like Wallace Shaun on helium. Most of the time, he is holed up in his lab. While he was brought to fame for making a quick charge high capacity battery material he is now mired down in outlandish studies of parapsychology and cryptozoology.
The Voice: An unknown entity that made itself known to Maggie in a dream. It has promised power to her but not much else as known. It has a smoky, feminine voice, but aside from that it has not made itself known as of yet.
Gilgamesh: 8 feet tall, built like a Renaissance statue, and skin as bronze as the Colossus of Rhodes. Not much else is known other than he seems like a total dudebro and is looking to protect the innocent masses.
Enkidu: Gilgamesh's right hand man. He stands about 7 feet tall and is similarly strong. He bears intimidating bull's horns on his head and from the waist down his legs are akin to those of a bullish satyr: furred with ungulate hooves.
